President Sisi to Visit Berlin on Sunday

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is set to visit Berlin on July 17-18, the German Embassy in Cairo announced on Thursday. 

During his visit, the Egyptian President will hold bilateral talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and other senior members of the German government.

Moreover, Sisi will take part in the "Petersberg Climate Dialogue" conference.

Since 2009, Germany has been organizing, before the annual United Nations Climate Conference, an annual conference called the “Petersburg Climate Dialogue” . This year's dialogue will be moderated by Germany, with the participation of Egypt, which will host the COP27 climate summit scheduled for next November.

In addition to climate protection issue, which is a common priority, this visit will focus on the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, bilateral relations, cultural and economic exchange, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

On his part, German Ambassador to Egypt Frank Hartmann said, "We are very pleased with the Egyptian President's upcoming visit to Berlin, as this visit will reaffirm the depth of German-Egyptian relations and the common interest of both countries in deepening cooperation in the field of climate protection and stability."
