President Sisi Meets CEO of French Thales Group for Cooperation Talks

On Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the French Company Thales, Mr. Patrice Caine.

The meeting was attended by Commander of the Strategic Command and Military Industrialization Supervisor, Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab International Optronics, Major General Tariq Zaghloul; Vice President of Thales’ Land and Air Systems, Mr. Christophe Salomon and Managing Director and CEO of Thales, Egypt, Sherif Barakat.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said that the meeting discussed prospects for cooperation with the French company, which enjoys international experience in the field of optics, electronics, and cybersecurity technology and their applications in the civil and service sectors. This is in cooperation with Arab International Optronics and Benha Electronics.

President El-Sisi underscored the outstanding cooperation between Egypt and France in general, particularly the activities of French companies operating in Egypt and their contribution to the development process. He noted that their success in Egypt represented a launching pad to other countries in the region.

The President confirmed that Egypt looks forward to further advancing this cooperation, particularly with Thales, which enjoys long years of experience in the field of optics and electronics.

The President gave directives to give due attention to enhancing human capacity, within the framework of the cooperation with Thales, in terms of practical and technical training and qualification so as to prepare staff of engineers in these specialized fields.

The Chairman and CEO of Thales expressed appreciation for meeting with President El-Sisi to discuss cooperation with Egypt, stressing the importance of Egypt's role as a strategic ally of France. Mr. Caine confirmed keenness on the fruitful cooperation with Egypt in the company's field of activity, training, and education for the transfer of knowledge, localization of the industry, and in enhancing its capabilities in the field of optics.
