 Pope Twadross II Gives Lectures to Helwan Univ. Students Today

Pope Twadross II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Holy See, and a delegation of the Coptic Orthodox Church visited on Tuesday Helwan University (HU).

Dr Khalid Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Dr Magid Nagm, President of HU welcomed the Pope and his entourage.

Chorus of the university performed a song named” Oh, Our Lord save our country off terrorism and evil.

HU and the Coptic Church inked a protocol to establish cooperation between them in public services.

The university honored the Pope and granted him its shield.

Dr Magid Nagm, President of HU, said that the Pope is keen on deepening loving, peace and fraternity as he is a respected man in the whole world and Egypt.

He praised the Pope for his wisdom and patience, affirming that all the Egyptians belong deeply to their homeland.

President of HU pointed out that this event comes with the national celebrations of the 46th anniversary of war of the 6th of October 1973 over Israel.

Egyptian soldiers, Muslims and Christians, won the war as they overcame the Israelis.

Dr Khalid Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education, welcomed the Pope as a wise man adoring Egypt and her people.

The minister lauded the Pope who calls all institutions such Al Azhar, political parties and civil society groups to build Egypt.

Dr Abdel Ghaffar further added that the protocol between Helwan University and the Coptic Orthodox Church aims to form multi partnerships to achieve targets of sustainable development.

Many new universities were opened in Matrouh, Al Wadi Al Gadid, Luxor and Sinai to make higher education available to more students across the country.

Universities related to industry and scientific research receives more support from the state to play an active role in development.

Pope Twadross II expressed his delight to be among students and professors of HU in the calendar day of the great month of October.

He appreciated the role of the university to make life better in Egypt. He remembered when he studied pharmacy in Alexandria University.

Pope Twadross II advised students to benefit from period of university because it is a threshold to the future.

"Youths should build an independent character over that period," he said.

He assured that loving is the leading engine in man’s life.

The Almighty Lord loves man and makes him responsible for developing the earth.

The Pope encouraged the students to avoid the evil and negative feelings.
