US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo revealed details of a call he had with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud regarding the shooting incident at the major U.S. navy base in Florida.

“I just spoke with Foreign Minister Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia who expressed his condolences and sadness at the loss of life in the horrific attack in Pensacola, Florida yesterday,” Pompeo Tweeted.

“The families and friends of those killed, and those wounded, will be in our thoughts and prayers,” he added.

It is worth mentioning, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has identified the shooter that killed three at a military base in Florida as Saudi national Mohammed Alshamrani.

The FBI's Jacksonville bureau confirmed in a statement on Saturday with a photo of the suspect, according to Xinhua news agency.

Four people, including the shooter, died on Friday at the Pensacola, Florida Naval Air Station by the hands of a Saudi national. This marked the second deadly shooting at a US military facility in less than a week.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman condemned the shooting and expressed “his sorrow and grief,” the Saudi embassy in Washington said in a statement after a call with US President Donald Trump on Friday.

Trump said that King Salman had called him to express his condolences.
