Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inspected on Saturday the Giza Solar boat museum, which includes a group of Khufu's first boat, according to MENA.

The inspection tour came upon directive by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to prepare a study on the possibility of moving the two Khufu boats to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which will be opened next year.

Accompanied by Antiquities Minister Khaled El Anani and Supervisor-General of the GEM project Atef Moftah, the premier inspected the restoration of Khufu's second boat as well.

"Khufu's first solar boat was discovered in 1954," Anani said.

Anani added that Khufu's second boat is one of the largest restoration projects in the world, noting that it is implemented in cooperation between Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities and Japan's Higashi Nippon International University with the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

"The project started in 2010," he said, noting that when it comes to the transportation phase, all modern buildings will be removed from the pyramids plateau.
