PM Follows-up Project of Upgrading Egyptian Museum

Dr Mustafa Madbouli, Prime Minister, held a ministerial meeting on Monday to follow-up the project of upgrading the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir District, Cairo and the area in vicinity of the National Museum of the Egyptian Civilization at Fustat, south to Cairo.

Dr Khalid El Enani, Minister of Antiquities, Dr Rania El Mashat, Minister of Tourism, Dr Assem El Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Public Utilities and New Urban Communities, Maj. Gen. Khalid Abdel Aal, Governor of Cairo attended that meeting along with a number of senior officials.

At the opening of the meeting, the Premier said that government prioritizes upgrading the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir, the area in vicinity of the National Museum of the Egyptian Civilization at Fustat, south to Cairo and Lake of Ain El Seerah, situates in the same area.

During the meeting, Dr El Enani, Minister of Antiquities, said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had tasked government to upgrade the Museum and the vicinity area along with the National Museum of the Egyptian Civilization at Fustat, south to Cairo and Lake of Ain El Seerah, situates in the same area.

The President also tasked to prepare a diagram for path of royal mummies which will be relocated from the Museum to the National Museum of the Egyptian Civilization at Fustat.

Dr El Enani praised efforts exerted by his ministry in coordination with Cairo governorate to upgrade the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir.

The minister revealed that the presidential directions to complete restoration of buildings and pruning trees around the Museum at Tahrir area up to Kasr El Einy district.

He pointed out that the streets and bridges near the Museum to the National Museum of the Egyptian Civilization at Fustat, were developed.

An number of investors participated at a meeting with officials in 7 July 2019 to discuss how to develop and run that area.

Dr Al Gazzar assured that Lake of Ain El Seera is still under developing.

Weeds were removed of sides of the lake and some in-islands were created there.

The Minister of Housing added that banks of the lake will be covered with stone to protect them from eroding.

The Premier commissioned the minister to develop areas on the path expected to pass procession of the royal mummies.

Buildings on that path will be re-painted and the streets will be re-dressed by asphalt to show the civilized image of Egypt.

The minister stressed that a big international celebration will be held later to promote the Egyptian tourism.
