Pharaohs Return Home After Qualifying for World Cup

Egypt’s U16 women national team landed on Sunday in Egypt after winning the silver medal in the 2019 FIBA African Championship.

The Pharaohs secured their place at the 2020 FIBA Under-17 Women's Basketball World Cup in Romania after advancing to the final game of the tournament, which was held in Kigali, Rwanda between 26 July to 4 August.

Egypt began their adventure in this tournament with an 80-46 victory against Uganda.

The Pharaohs is celebrating the Bronze Medal

They qualified for the last eight after finishing second in Group B. The Pharaohs demolished Tanzania in the quarter-finals with an 88-41 victory.

They defeated Angola in the last four 71-50, before losing to Mali 88-57 in the final game.

The Pharaohs' triumph against Angola in the semi-finals secured their place in the World Cup for the second time in their history after the 2014 version.

Mali managed to lift their sixth consecutive African Championship title as they defeated Egypt in the final leg of 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2019 versions.

It is worth mentioning that the 2020 U17 Women's Basketball World Cup will be held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania from 15 to 23 August 2020.
