Real Madrid failed to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain back in August, but president Florentino Perez is confident that Los Blancos fans will hear more about the club's interest in the French striker this January.

Mbappe's contract with PSG runs until the summer of 2022 and the France international will be free to negotiate about his future with any team from January 1. "In January we will have news about Mbappe," Perez told El Debate.

"We hope that on January 1 everything can be solved."

However, shortly after, Perez came out to clarify what he had actually meant.

"My words were misinterpreted. What I said is that we have to wait until next year to hear from him, always with respect to PSG with whom we have good relations," he said.

Perez also discussed about the renovation of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu project and offered his vision about Real Madrid's ground.

"It will be a meeting point for the entire city of Madrid," added Perez.

"There is no stadium like it and one that is in the centre of a big city like ours is."
