Egyptians resume voting on Sunday for the second and last day in the first phase of parliamentary elections across 14 governorates.

The electoral process will start at 9:00 am, amid tight precautionary measures over coronavirus spread.

The first day of elections witnessed a medium turnout from citizens, who were keen to cast their ballots with the utmost freedom.

The National Elections Authority (NEA) has formed an operation room and announced a hotline number “19826” for receiving voters’ complaints throughout the two-day parliamentary elections.

It is worth mentioning that, almost 4,000 inpidual candidates and eight coalition lists are competing over 568 seats in this election. Half the seats will be filled through the inpidual candidacy system and the rest through party lists.

The NEA coordinates with the concerned government agencies to secure the election process.

Police forces are deployed in the streets, while the Interior Ministry raised the level of preparedness to secure the election process.

Earlier, the NEA announced that the first stage of the elections will kick off for Egyptians abroad from October 21 to 23 while it will kick off in Egypt on October 24 and 25.

The re-runs of the first stage will be held for Egyptians abroad from November 21 to 23 and in Egypt on November 24 and 25.
