Palestine Takes Urgent Measures to Contain Covid-19

Today, Thursday, the Palestinian government decided to take a series of measures to counter the spread of the novel Coronavirus( known also as COVID-19).

The government said that among these measures are the closure of all educational institutions for a period of two weeks and the shift to distance education.

In a speech broadcast on state television, Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said that movement between governorates is strictly prohibited except for medical personnel, essential goods, and foodstuffs.

These measurements include the city of Jerusalem in the West Bank.

He added, "Movement for citizens and for all transportation is prohibited from seven in the evening until six in the morning of the next day, starting from Thursday."

Shtayyeh explained that among the decisions to confront the spread of the Coronavirus, movement is strictly prohibited in all governorates on Fridays and Saturdays, starting tomorrow Friday, with only pharmacies and ovens allowed to operate".

The Palestinian Premier explained that his government is seeking to obtain doses of the vaccine against the Coronavirus.

The database of the Palestinian Ministry of Health shows that the total number of coronavirus infections since the outbreak of the pandemic last March reached 133,186, of which 106,840 recovered and 1,186 died.

On Wednesday, the Gaza Strip recorded more than 1,000 cases of the new Coronavirus, in one day.

This is the first time that this number has been recorded in the Strip since the outbreak of the epidemic in it last August.

And the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced, on Wednesday evening, that 1015 new cases of the   Coronavirus had been recorded during the examinations for the first and second sessions of this day.

The Ministry of Health said in a brief statement that 258 new infections were recorded in the second session on Wednesday, so that the total number of injuries for this day is 1015, after examining 2,474 samples with an infection rate of 41%."
