Moments ago, Palestinian state television reported that top negotiator Saeb Erekat, who had earlier contracted the novel coronavirus, died at age 65, while his family later denied.

The veteran negotiator's health condition was very critical as his daughter, Dalal, explained earlier, while her dad was being treated at an Israeli hospital.

The hospital has reportedly asked the family to come to say good bye as Erekat's condition is getting worse.

Erekat, Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, remained in hospital in critical condition as an international medical team was supervising his situation, according to WAFA.

On her part, Palestinian Health Minister Mai Alkaila said, earlier today, that the President’s Office, the government, and the Ministry were closely monitoring the developments related to the health condition of Erekat, who was placed on a ventilator this morning and was is in critical condition at the Hadassah Ein Karem hospital in West Jerusalem.

She added that the veteran negotiator required specialized medical care at the Israeli hospital given his history of respiratory illness as he underwent a lung transplant at Inova Fairfax Hospital in northern Virginia, US, in October 2017.
