Gernot Rohr, head coach of the Nigerian national team said on Tuesday that his team would seek to advance to the semi-final of 2019 AFCON.

Rohr expressed his happiness with Super Eagle's visit to the Suez canal during their camp in Ismailia.

Advancing to the final stages requires more effort. Right now, we are focusing on our opening match against Burundi, the German coach said.

At least, our main goal is to advance to the golden box of the upcoming tournament, he added.

Rohr also noted that Nigeria's squad have a mixture of both experienced and young players who have the will to achieve Super Eagles' fans ambitions.

"Nigeria did not qualify to the last two AFCON'S tournaments, but when the three-time title holders qualify, they usually advance to the final stages," the coach remarked.

Rohr moved to talk about his team last warm-up game against Nigeria, saying, the game was good, but Nigeria's squad did not appear at their best because of the absence of some players.

It is worth mentioning that the Super Eagles, who were picked in group A, alongside Guinea, Madagascar, and Burundi, will begin their mission against Burundi at Alexandria Stadium on Saturday 22 June at 19:00 CLT.
