The nominations for the 94th Academy Awards, also known as Oscars, were announced Tuesday.

"The Power of the Dog" led among nominated movies with 12 nods. The movie's director, Jane Campion, made history by becoming the first woman to be nominated more than once for best director. She nabbed her previous nod for "The Piano".

Fellow director Steven Spielberg also set a new record. As a producer of "West Side Story", which earned a total of seven nominations, Spielberg has now produced 11 movies nominated for best picture, a new record for the Oscars.

In addition, Denzel Washington extended the record he already holds as the most nominated Black actor, earning his tenth Oscar nomination for his performance in "The Tragedy of Macbeth".

Smith produced the film and played Richard Williams, the father of tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, in a story depicting the early days of their careers. He has been recognized 15 years on from his last citation by the Motion Picture Academy.

Kirsten Dunst has received her first Oscar nomination for her role in “The Power of the Dog", and Kristen Stewart has landed her first Best Actress Oscar nomination for her portrayal as Princess Diana in "Spencer".
