Orabi: Sisi's visit to Sudan is significant

Former Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Orabi said, Saturday, that the timing of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Sudan is highly significant amid the current tensions erupted in the region.

Talking to Egyptian state-owned news agency (MENA), Orabi added that there is a strong motive to foster the bilateral relations against any strategic threats in the future as Egypt's national security in tightly connected by Sudan's one.

Then, he pointed out to the importance of the security in Africa and The Red Sea-related files alongside the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) crisis with Ethiopia that the Egyptian president has tackled during the visit.

Commenting on GERD crisis, Orabi underlined that the talks between Egypt and Sudan can help in creating a mutual vision to deal with Ethiopia in the light of historical ties between the three states and international laws and African Union's standers.

He continued that this is the first visit conducted by Sisi to Sudan after the latest political crisis underscoring the strength of Egypt-Sudan ties.

Finally, the diplomat assured that the relationship between Egypt and Sudan is historical, especially after the latest improvement between both countries in various fields such as education, health, and infrastructure.
