Luxor awaits an extraordinary event next October, as it prepares to receive delegations from all over the world to witness the return of the Opera Aida to the courtyard of Queen Hatshepsut, after a two-decade absence.

Dr. Neven Wassif, the executive manager of Opera Aida’s project, said that the event would take place on October 26 and 28 at Hatshepsut Temple in Luxor.

The event coincides with the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Suez Canal. In 1869, Khepe Ismail asked the astound musician Verdi to write Opera Aida to be displayed during the Suez Canal opening ceremony.

Wassif noted that Opera Aida is a pure Egyptian story. Opera Aida is an exquisite performance that captivates crowds and mesmerizes

"We appreciate the role of the government institutions and representatives of the private sector of tourism and hotel for their roles in making this production a success." Wassif added. "We especially thank Governor of Luxor Mustafa Alham and the Tourism Promotion Chamber in Luxor; as well as the Suez Canal Authorities, who have promised to provide us with logistical facilities."

The presentations, slated for October 26 and 28, will deliver a message of peace and security from Egypt to all the world. The event will also be a step towards making Aida Opera an annual event on the international tourism agenda.
