The Valour of Egyptian Army, Op-ed

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has ordered the Egyptian armed forces to end any terrorist presence in Sinai within three months. This step was not coming from void, but rather from an assessment of the situation and calculating the risks that Egypt must deal with.

During the last period, the Egyptian army has achieved great success in confronting terrorism, although the state started its war on terrorism in very complicated circumstances.

However, the Egyptian army has accomplished a lot in a battle that it had to fight, while the Brotherhood gangs were trying to cause trouble on all fronts.

The foreign support continues to nourish its criminality against the homeland.

The foreign bloc tried to "punish" Egypt because it brought down fascism on June 30. This bloc was depriving Egypt’s army from basic equipment needed in war against terrorism.

Despite all this, the Egyptian army succeeded in delivering harsh strikes to terrorist gangs, and in reducing the size of their assaults.

If it was not the care for innocent civilian lives of the Egyptian citizens in Sinai, the mission would have been completed a long time ago, especially after Egypt has crossed the difficult period; her army received all what was needed such as the latest weapons required for confrontation.

All countries learned the lesson and realized that terrorism is a danger to everyone, and that confronting it must be a worldwide mission.

Nevertheless, the fourth quarter of last year witnessed important developments in Egypt's war on terror.

Several attacks took place: Al-Rawda mosque terrorist assault in Sinai, the Al-Wahat (oases in the Western Desert) attack, subsequent assaults in the western front near the borderline with Libya and other attacks carried out by terrorist gangs in the course of that period. All these confirmed that there is a qualitative change in the nature of these attacks and that new experiences of terrorism have entered into the scene.

These challenges were added to the clear danger of terrorist elements moving from the battlefield in Iraq, Syria and other regions confirm that there are external forces who support attempts of these gangs to find a place for them in Egypt or around her neighboring countries in North Africa.

Reading the scene, Egyptian military experts anticipated what is being planned against the state by striking the remaining bases of terrorism.

Hence, the state made decision to confront terrorism; President El-Sisi announced publicly the need to clear Sinai of terrorism within three months. He sent a message to everyone that Egypt is aware of the risks and is ready to confront them.

There is no doubt that the message has reached the concerned parties. It was strange to see some parties who pretend to wage war against terrorism lending a hand to terrorist gangs targeting Egypt, her security and stability!

These parties were fabricating imaginary battles against Egypt or exerting pressure on her.

The Egyptian army saved the country and the region from the evils of the Brotherhood and their allies and led the war against terrorism.

In this context, we have seen some parties who questioned the strength of the Egyptian army, her possession of the latest weapons, her persification of sources of arms and capabilities.

The response came to the recent developments. It proved that the best of what Egypt did in this field was that she had acquired the power to protect gas and oil fields in the Mediterranean against any threat, in addition to protecting the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Suez Canal entrances against any ill-intended illusions targeting the state and her security.

In this context as well, the debates in the US Congress became boring about the reduction of aid despite Washington’s knowledge that this aid is beneficial to America more than it is to Egypt.

This aid in terms of value - does not represent a big thing, but it maintains a relationship that Washington knows its importance and realizes the consequences of its loss.

In this context, came the hostile campaigns in the American media, which recently culminated in a report published by the Bloomberg News Agency a few days ago, in which lies were mixed with delusions, while targeting the Egyptian army.

That report hinted on an alleged pision among the army’s ranks, a point that foreign parties that target Egypt and the Arabs are striving to achieve.

Bloomberg’s report tried to grant the kiss of life once again to Muslim Brotherhood with all its terrorist history and conspiracy at present, by claiming that the regime in Egypt is on the path of reconciliation with the terrorist group.

“History says that any pision or power struggle in Egypt leads to the use of the Brotherhood,” the report said.

A group of lies mixed with delusions promoted by those who are not familiar with Egypt’s history and her national army, which is loyalty to the homeland.

The Egyptian army is the guardian of legitimacy and committed fully to perform its mission to preserve the security of Egypt and defend her land watered by the blood of thousands of martyrs.

Those who promote lies about the great army of Egypt, or those who hold the illusion of reconciliation with the Brotherhood, do not realize that they plow at sea, and that the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat made a historical mistake when he allied with the Brotherhood. This mistake could not be repeated as Egypt paid - and still pays a dear price for this error.

They do not understand that the Brotherhood’s battle is not against a ruler or a regime, but rather against the people of Egypt who were plagued by hate fires, bullets of treachery, and the ideas of terrorism brought by this group that lasted for ninety years.

Terrorism kills, destroys, spreads strife, and betrays the national movement in all ages.

The will of the people of Egypt and its army is strong; a point the Brotherhood does not know its meaning or value.

At the dawn of the 9th of February, the Egyptian army was sending a response to all the lies and revealing the falsehood of all hostile campaigns.

The Egyptian army was launching a comprehensive military operation (Sinai 2018) to strike all the hotbeds of Brotherhood-ISIS terrorism from the Sinai Peninsula up to the western borders with Libya.

All the Egyptian people are behind their army, while performing its sacred mission to clear the homeland from the vices of terrorism.

May God protect Egypt and may her national army become successful in their endeavour.
