Oman to Quarantine All Visitors amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Oman Sultanate has decided to quarantine all people arriving in the country whether by air, sea, or land, amid Coronavirus outbreak, according to the Health Ministry.

The decision came into force as of Tuesday, until further notice.

"In accordance with decisions issued by the supreme committee tasked with dealing and responding to the developments of COVID19 pandemic, There will be a quarantine for anyone entering the country, by air, sea, and land, including Omanis," the ministry tweeted.

"Accordingly, the Health Ministry urges all travelers entering the country to adhere to imposing the home or institutional quarantine. In case any symptoms appear, please contact the Ministry contact center or the nearest health institution," the statement added.

The Sultanate of Oman has imposed preventive measure to curb the viral virus, including:

– Banning the entry of all non-Omanis to the Sultanate’s territories via all land, sea and airports and checkpoints, except citizens of GCC states.

–  Closing all parks and public play areas.

–  Suspending Friday prayers.

–  Stopping all social gatherings like wedding parties and funeral ceremonies.

More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease Covid-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

Transmission of viruses between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough. They can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
