The Head of the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare Anna Popova said that the COVID-19 infections among Russian tourists who returned from Egypt are near Zero, Sputnik reported on Thursday.

Popova's statements came during her meeting with Dr. Khaled El Anany, the minister of Tourism and Antiquities, in Moscow.

The Russian official praised the strictly applied protective measures and procedures taken by the Egyptian government on tourist resorts, and destinations.

She added that the Russian delegation that headed to Egypt last July to examine the imposed protective measures by the Egyptian authorities had introduced positive reviews after the visit.

On his side, El Anany asserted that Egypt is a safe and suitable destination for all tourists, saying that the Coronavirus infections in Egyptian resorts are almost zero due to their good-aired nature, and the application of strict protective measures.

In the same context, both officials discussed various issues related to the comeback of Russian tourists to Egyptian tourist destinations and spots.

Moreover, Russian tourist observes predict that Egyptian tourism would see a recovery with the resume of Russian flights to Egypt, and the improvement of the medical situation of COVID-19.

It is worthy to mention that Egypt received more than 2.3 million Russian tourists before the tragic accident of the Russian airplane crash in Sinai.
