October 6 University announced that the Board of Trustees, headed by Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr, have made a set of decisions based on its societal and developmental role and its responsibilities towards society.

Those decisions were made within the context of keenness of the management of the university on the future of its students and a contribution from it to lift the burden off the students and provide all requirements for distance education and e-learning.

The decisions respond to the current conditions as the country is going through challenges due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

The Board of Trustees took the following decisions:

-Contracting the Egyptian Telecom Company to provide Internet for all students, and the university bears its cost, for using it in downloading courses and dealing with the educational platform of the university, to conduct electronic exams and provide research.

The university will send a method of obtaining this service to all students via the student's academic Email.

This requires each student to activate her/his Email because it is the official means of communication between the university and the students. This Email will be used in dealing with the university to send research projects.

-Refunding a portion of expenses paid by the students, who were enrolled in the second semester, as they did not accommodate hostel and university buses.

The students of the final years who will graduate this year will benefit from this reimbursement.

Freshmen and semaphores, who are enrolled in the second semester, will get deduction from the tuition fees for the next academic year, provided that after the suspension period, the university calculates the amounts for each student.

It is worth noting that Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, received a letter from Dr. Badr confirming the university's support for the state in all the precautionary measures it has taken to confront the negative repercussions caused by the new Corona pandemic.

Dr. Badr announced that the university donated EGP 10 million as a contribution from the university to bear some of the costs of these negative repercussions in support of the state and for the success of its efforts in this regard.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university praised the decisions taken by the government during the past period regarding the precautionary and preventive measures, as well as the efforts made to overcome the economic effects.

The board authorized the Premier to distribute the amount of the donation on the items that are spent in the framework of confronting this virus.

On his part, the Prime Minister thanked the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of October 6 University, and all its employees for this national initiative, stressing that what the Egyptians offer together in facing this crisis provides a model for what it should be dealing in the time of major crises and disasters.
