Despite our best efforts for a good night's sleep, there is one crucial factor that frequently hinders our plans, which is hunger.

Thus, instead of raiding the kitchen for whatever leftovers we can find and eat, we should explore our options for healthy midnight snacks.

In a statement, nutritionist, gastroenterologist Nuria Dianova, said that there are some foods that contain easily digestible protein.

She noted that digestion and all the work of the body slow down at night, so a proper snack should be light.

Light snacks include an omelet with vegetables, cottage cheese, a piece of fish or fish cakes, a banana and a couple of spoons of nut butter. Protein shakes or health food can be an alternative.

Dianova noted if you choose meat, then it should be in the form of baby food, which will not be a lump in the stomach.

She clarified that it is better not to eat poultry or meat in the evening, noting that it will be difficult to digest.
