“Nostos Youth Ambassadors” to Be Launched, Tripartite Agreements Inked

To discuss the details of launching the fourth edition of "Reviving Roots" Initiative, Nabila Makram Abdel-Shaheed, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians Affairs Abroad, held a tripartite meeting in Greece. The three sides agreed that the "Nostos Youth Ambassadors" program would be established soon.

It included her authorized counterparts, Fotis Fotio, Commissioner Cypriot President and Costas Flaces - Greek Deputy Foreign Minister.

“Reviving Roots” aims to connect young people from the three countries and strengthen historical, cultural relations as well as focusing on common ties and challenges,

The initiative highlights the importance of the role of migration in connecting and developing peoples and the role of youth in reviving the roots between the three countries.

Makram, during the meeting, congratulated Mr. Costas Vlassis, Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, for his new position and wished him success in his endeavors.

Makram added that the members agreed on organizing a visit program by the end of June that includes the youth of the three countries.

This comes within the framework of linking future generations with their history and culture, and to promote the heritage of Egypt beauty and to cement relationships between Egyptians abroad and members of the communities that live in Egypt.

The Egyptian minister invited her counterparts to allow the participation of children from Cyprus and Greece in the camp set up by the Ministry for the children of Egyptians abroad from the fourth generation.

The camp, which cooperates with the "well spring" Foundation, is held in the summer of Sharm El Sheikh with the aim of linking future generations with each other through these cultural folkloric activities Egyptian-Greek Cypriot. The organizers of the camp strive to enhance popular diplomacy.

Greek Deputy Minister Costas Flacey welcomed the visit of His Excellency the Minister to Greece, expressing his happiness for his country's participation in this initiative.

Flacey added that the three sides agreed on working and hosting an event for young professionals and academics in Canada would take place in the end of September 2020.

Fotis Fotio affirmed the importance of the youth’s role because they are the future and are linked by a common history and culture.

Fotio pointed out that this initiative comes to strengthen all these ties, noting that the three countries are the golden triangle and the basis of stability, security and peace in the region.

Fotio expressed his happiness that the three presidents encourage these types of humanitarian initiatives and soft power among the three countries.
