Press reports confirmed that the authorities in North Korea offered Russia 100,000 volunteer soldiers to help defeat Ukraine.
According to the “New York Post” website, this offer was revealed on Russia’s state TV.
Russian military analyst Igor Korotchenko says that “100 thousand North Korean volunteers are ready to attend and participate in the conflict,” praising the vast experience of the North Korean army, especially in wars involving the use of cannons.
The website of the “South China Morning Post” newspaper reported that the ability to confront the cannons has become a feature that Moscow desperately needs after the US announced the donation of dozens of high-mobility HIMARS missile systems to the Ukrainian authorities.
Pyongyang has also offered the Russian authorities an ample supply of manpower to help rebuild eastern Ukraine after Moscow succeeded in seizing the region, according to South Korean media.
Korotchenko went on to argue that Russia should welcome the North Korean troops and their counter-battery expertise.
“If North Korea expresses a desire to meet its international duty to fight against Ukrainian fascism, we should let them,” he said, according to the New York Post.
Pyongyang’s military is the world’s fourth largest, with nearly 1.3 million active personnel, according to the New York-based Council for Foreign Relations.
However, defense experts say it operates with aging equipment and technology.
