Health personnel of the North Korean army intensified the distribution of medicines to combat the increasing outbreak of the Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19), according to the official media.

This movement came at a time when the number of declared “fever” infections reached about 1.5 million, according to the French Press Agency (AFP).

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered the imposition of nationwide lock down measures in an attempt to slow the spread of the epidemic among the unvaccinated population, and deployed the army after what he described as a failed response to the spread of the disease.

Hundreds of medical units of the "Korean People's Army" were seen participating in a march in camouflage uniforms in the capital, Pyongyang, according to photos published by the official Korean Central News Agency.

The agency reported that the army "urgently deployed its heavy forces in all pharmacies in Pyongyang to provide medicines under a 24-hour service system."
