The Korean Central News Agency said that North Korea has deployed military forces to distribute drugs to treat COVID-19.

The Asian country also deployed more than 10,000 medical personnel to monitor possible cases of the disease, in the context of the country facing a wide wave of infections with Coronavirus.

The isolated country is facing its first declared COVID-19 outbreak, which it confirmed last week, and it has fueled fears of a major crisis due to the lack of vaccines and the lack of adequate medical infrastructure.

The pandemic emergency control headquarters in the country recorded more than 269,510 new cases of fever symptoms, bringing the total to 1,483,060.

The death toll increased to 56 on Monday evening, the news agency reported, without mentioning the number of confirmed Corona cases.

Efforts to monitor the disease have also been intensified, as about 11,000 health officials, teachers, and medical students have been deployed to join efforts to conduct an "intensive medical examination of the entire population" across the country to monitor and treat people with fever.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the virus may spread rapidly in North Korea in the absence of vaccination programs and the country's rejection of international aid.
