NGU’s Pharmacy Faculty Holds Forum to Combat Coronavirus

Pharmacy faculty at the New Giza University (NGU) launched the "Preparations and Biological Formulas” Forum to discuss the future of biological preparations in Egypt blending with viewpoint of the pharmaceutical industry, scientific research, regulatory bodies and medical service providers. The forum is sponsored by Egyptian Medicines Authority.

It discussed ways to combat the Corona virus and drugs that reduce its effects, in the presence of a group of scientists, researchers, clinical pharmacists, doctors, business development managers, international experts and many professors at prestigious international universities and a large number of leaders of scientific colleges at NGU.

The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Samih Farid the NGU’s President, Dr. Lamis Rajab, Vice President of the university and Dr. Manal Maher the Pharmacy College dean.

Dr. Farid said that the forum is a good opportunity to exchange views and scientific research on the progress of the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt and world especially, at the time, which the world suffers from Corona virus.

Also, he noted that there are precautionary measures taken by the university to confront the Corona virus, including setting plans for teaching in case of disrupting study, continuous ventilation, preventing congestion, caring for personal hygiene, following healthy methods of coughing.

The precautions also include examining students who suffer from any suspected infection symptoms and continuous awareness for students not to attend if there are any symptoms, to wear a surgical mask or a muzzle, and to sterilize the stands, laboratories and classrooms.

On other hand, Dr. Tamer Essam, the Medicines Authority Chairman affirmed that this forum is a great opportunity to gather all this number of professors, researchers, companies and all ages as well, which in turn focuses on the public interest in pharmacy field.

Dr. Essam explained that it is time for Egypt to take a seat in the pharmaceutical industry in the near future.

On the other hand, Dr. Ashraf Ismail, the General Authority President for Accreditation and Health Supervision, said that Egypt is going through a defining moment in its health history, in terms of the laws that were issued as well as the comprehensive health insurance law, which represents a far-reaching reform of the health system in Egypt.
