New Massive wildfires have erupted in hard-hit Russia, triggering evacuation alerts for villages, which lie on the border of Europe and Asia, according to international reports.

In a video, the fire can be seen raging on both sides of a federal road linking two major cities, Yekaterinburg and Perm.

Responding to this disaster, Russian authorities have issued an "extreme fire danger" alert for the region, which lies on the border of Europe and Asia.

In a statement, Russia's ministry of emergency situations said on Wednesday: “Firefighters were battling 15 forest fires in the Urals region of Sverdlovsk.”

Later, the domestic media reported that "the authorities had to close the highway for most of the day on Tuesday."

On his part,  Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged Tuesday €300 million to contain wildfires and protect the forests.

Commenting on this disaster, Putin said there were "lessons to be learned" from the fires that have ravaged Siberia for several months.

Currently, hundreds of firefighters are trying to control a large forest fire that was spreading towards neighboring Mordovia with nine water-bombing aircraft and nine helicopters.
