The Ministry of the Democratic Republic of Congo reported a new Ebola case in North Kivu Province, Reuters reported on Saturday.

The samples were taken from a young child who died a few days later after suffering from Ebola-like virus symptoms.

Dr Matshidiso Moeti, the director of WHO Africa regional office said: “WHO is supporting health authorities to investigate the new Ebola case,” adding “North Kivu has been battered by Ebola outbreaks during the past few years, but this has built up local expertise and community awareness, paving the way for a fast-moving response.”

In February, the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo reported a new case of the Ebola virus near Butembo, adding that the infected person died announcing the country’s 12th Ebola outbreak.

Moreover, a woman was found with the symptoms of the Ebola virus in Biena town on February 1. She died in Butembo on February 3.

She was infected by her husband who contracted the virus during its previous outbreak in several African countries.
