"The president was updated on all the details related to the studies conducted by the research teams in the specialized bodies including the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO), and academic bodies," said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady after the meeting.

He added that "These studies focus on the areas of land plots in the Northwestern Coast at the Dabaa axis. It was proven that these lands were ready for agricultural reclamation for the giant national project: “New Delta” which covers an area of one million feddans and includes within its scope the “Egypt’s Future” project for agricultural production."

In this context, Sisi directed the officials concerned to immediately start the implementation of the "New Delta" project. He demanded the implementation stages be combined into one and the planned timetable be condensed.

The “New Delta” project aims to enhance the State’s strategy in the field of forming and establishing new agricultural and urban communities. Such communities would have modern administrative systems and include industrial complexes based on agricultural production that would provide thousands of new jobs opportunities.

In the same context, the infrastructure plans and the preparations that will be implemented under the supervision of the Engineering Authority were presented. These plans include the roads, services, drainage stations, electricity supply, and watercourses for the transportation of irrigation water.

The Minister of Agriculture also presented the Ministry's vision on ways to maintain food security and support the agricultural sector. The Ministry’s vision is mainly based on the principle of relative food security and the production of foodstuff locally. As a result, the cost of importing them from abroad will be saved. The Ministry also presented the future vision concerning crops and agricultural commodities produced by the State, the ministry’s efforts to bridge food gaps as well as its programs for contractual crops.

The Director General of NSPO also presented the coordination efforts with the Ministry of Agriculture to support agricultural development plans in all its aspects in Egypt and promote food security and animal production projects.
