Dutch ambassador in Cairo Laurens Westhoff has announced that his country will provide €120 million aid to Egypt over the next four years.

The aid will be allocated for the development of water, agriculture, energy and women employment sectors.

In his word at the conference organized by the European Union embassy in Cairo today, the ambassador hailed the economic reforms carried out by the Egyptian government in the past years.

During the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will also be signed between the Ministry of Petroleum and the Belgian port of Antwerp.

Westhoff confirmed that the EU seeks to enhance cooperation with Egypt in the field of energy, pointing out that the MoU aims to develop fuel supply services in Egypt.

He also congratulated the Petroleum Ministry, especially as Egypt became a gas exporter.

It is noteworthy that a high-level delegation from the Belgian port of Antwerp visited Damietta Port (DP) last year.

The two sides discussed the joint cooperation and investment opportunities available at the DP after a sightseeing tour inside the port.

The Belgian side praised the competitive advantages and capable infrastructure of DP, especially with the presence of (SEGAS) as a leading global LNG plant; add to this, DP’s close location to the new gas exploration areas in the Mediterranean Sea.

The delegation expressed admiration of DP’s leading experience in applying (OPS) system to supply ships with electricity.

According to the international classification, Antwerp is one of the world top five ports in the field of Bunkering.
