Netherlands Crush Germany in Hamburg (4-2)

The Netherlands fought back to secure a significance Euro 2020 qualifying win over Germany after a thrilling game at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg on Friday.

Serge Gnabry had given the lead for the hosts after only nine minutes before Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong netted the equalizer in the 59th minute as he nabbed his first goal on his tenth appearance for his country.

Jonathan Tah's own goal gave the Dutch the advantage in the 66th minute, before Real Madrid's midfielder Toni Kroos scored the equalizer when he converted from a penalty spot.

Donyell Malen scored his first goal for his country on his first appearance with the Netherlands in the 80th minute, adding the third goal.

Georginio Wijnaldum sealed the victory when he added the fourth in the injury time after an excellent counter-attack to make the result 4-2.

Germany now ranked second following Northern Ireland with nine points, while the Netherlands came third with six points. The Dutch are now strongly back in the running for the top spot.

Northern Ireland topped Group C after securing the victory in their four games, but they did not face either Germany or the Netherlands yet. Belarus earned a 2-1 victory over Estonia to achieve their first three points in the other game in Group C tonight.
