The Netherlands joined the countries departing from Ukraine and advised its nationals to leave as soon as possible due to the security situation in the latter.

On Friday, the Dutch broadcaster BNR, quoting the Dutch ambassador in Kiev Jennes de Mol said his government had advised Dutch nationals in Ukraine to leave as soon as possible due to the security situation in the country.

He added that the Netherlands will move its diplomatic mission from the capital, Kiev, to Lovio in western Ukraine.

Meantime, NATO intends to strengthen the presence of its forces in Eastern Europe near Ukraine, according to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH (dpa) from sources close to the Western military alliance. This step reflects the Russian demand not to expand the alliance to the east.

The sources informed dpa that the 30 members of NATO this week signed a relevant proposal after weeks of discussions.

The news agency stated that the decision will be confirmed and announced during the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels next week, and may be implemented within weeks.

NATO plans to deploy more of its forces near countries such as Romania. The U.S. already deployed several fighter jets in the Eastern European country.
