National Council of Women (NCW) Chairperson Maya Morsy praised on Sunday Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's decree to double the women quote in the Egyptian Senate.
As per Article 24 of Law No. 141 of 2020 for the Senate, the president has the right to allocate at least 10 percent of 100 appointed members for women.
"Doubling the no. of women proves a sincere political will & true belief in Egyptian #women empowerment," she tweeted.

Egypt’s Senate is set to hold its inaugural session today. Today's session will witness the election of the Speaker and the two deputies.
The historic hall of the Senate was announced to be fully prepared with all needed technologies and equipment including a fully electronic voting system.
