Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) confirmed that there are no plans to deploy NATO's combat groups in Ukraine.

He revealed that there are differences between allies within the alliance over the form of assistance that should be provided to Ukraine at the present time.

"As to what kind of assistance should be given to Ukraine, which is not a member of NATO but is a very important partner as there are some differences between NATO members, and I don't want to hide that," the Secretary-General said.

The Secretary-General of NATO stressed that the alliance "will not deploy NATO combat units in Ukraine."

It is noteworthy that Ukraine received a few days ago an American plane carrying military equipment and ammunition in the capital, Kiev, as part of a security package worth $200 million provided by Washington to the country.

"Our partners are increasing the volume of military assistance, and today we are receiving the third plane from the United States government as part of this assistance," Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov told reporters before the plane landed.

The United States of America (USA)  has allocated more than $650 million in security assistance to Ukraine last year and more than $2.7 billion in total since 2014 when Crimea was reunited with Russian territory.

This comes at a time when Moscow warns against the provocative moves of the Ukrainian and NATO forces on its western borders.

Russia affirmed that it is seeking to reach peaceful solutions to the threats facing its national security and territorial integrity.
