Naguib El-Rihani Biopic Series in Development

A dramatic series chronicling the life of famed Egyptian icon Naguib el-Rihani is officially in development.

Actor Amr Abdul Gelil is slated to play the title role in the project.

The series is titled "Aldaahik albaki" and will be directed by Mohamed Fadel.

Principal photography is slated to begin in the coming days.

Fadel previously stated that the project follows the period of 1910 to 1949 in Egypt.

El-Rihani, born on January 21, 1889, began his acting career after he graduated from the French school “Les Frères” in Cairo in the 1900s.

He enjoyed a successful acting career after making his acting debut in the 1934 film "Yacout".

The acclaimed actor's career spanned more than five decades during which he stunned his fellow actors and fans as well as made them laugh, cry and feel with his performance that still continues to leave its charm.

He is best known for roles in films such as 1946's "Leabet El Sett", 1946's "Ahmar Shafayef", 1941's "Si Omar", 1941's “Abou Halmoos”, 1937's "Salama Fi Kheer", 1936's "Beslamto Ayez Yetgwz", and 1934's "Yacout".

In 1910, he established his theatrical group.

El-Rihani passed away at age 60 before the release of his last film “Ghazal Al Banat”, which was released in 1949.
