Egyptian Mahraganat singer Omar Kamal sparked a state of controversy hours after his last concert, where Kamal changed some lyrics of his song 'bent El Geran' while performing in Saudi Arabia, explaining he was singing in the holy land. In response, Egypt’s Musicians’ Syndicate referred him to investigation for insulting the sanctity of Egypt.

In a statement, the Syndicate's said that Egypt is a sacred homeland [as well] and that the head of the Syndicate Hani Shaker, asked him before to change these lyrics due to its impact on the values and morals of young people.

While a number of followers demanded, the head of musicians, artist Hani Shaker, to intervene and hold Omar Kamal accountable for his statement, which they described as “offensive,” and one of the followers commented: “I wish the Musicians’ Syndicate would take action against Omar Kamal. His words offend Egypt and its people, and we do not accept insulting our pure land.”
