Well-known journalist and Member of Parliament (MP) Farida al-Shobashi tested positive for coronavirus last week.
In press statements to the local newspaper, Shobashi stressed that she is currently self-isolating and receiving coronavirus vaccine, according to the Health ministry's protocol.
Shobashi headed the opening session of the legislative term of the 2021 Parliament, in her capacity as the oldest member.
She is the first woman to head the House of Parliament in the history of Egypt.
