Mounir Inaugurates 28th AMF In a legendary ceremony

In a legendary ceremony, Egyptian superstar dubbed “The King” Mohamed Mounir inaugurated the 28th edition of the Arab Music Festival on Friday, November 1.

The King was officially honored along with a number of the festival’s honorees as Egyptian Minister of Culture Enas Abdel Dayem honored the symbols of Egyptian and Arab music.

During the ceremony, the big stage turned into an arena of youth concerts as the audience began to interact with Mounir through singing, clapping, dancing while chanting “we love you Mounir”.

Mounir and his band sang some of his most famous songs, such as "Ya Laila Oudi Tani", “Ala Sotek”, “Shia Mn Beid, “Ya Samra”, “Ghariba”, “Barra El Shababek”, and “Ah Ya Lalally” song dedicated to Aleppo people.

He concluded by singing "Watani" song, which he dedicates to the Arab world, saying, "May God preserve Egypt”, then he sang “ The Nile” song.

Mounir was singing with great strength in an appearance that the audience was not accustomed to as he was wearing a formal suit, sitting in a chair for the first time, as presenter of the concert Jasmine Zaki announced that he had a herniated disc that prevented him from standing for a long time.

The superstar expressed his happiness, saying, “After holding hundreds of concerts at festivals around the world, I am proud to be honored here at the oldest and most important festivals in the world. I need to thank my colleagues and brothers who have joined me in building the new song and endured so much.”

The ceremony was attended by a large number of ministers, ambassadors and the Egyptian elite, including Field Marshal Tantawi, former Minister of Defense and his wife, journalist Ibrahim Issa, journalist Mufid Fawzi, presenter Bouthaina Kamel, TV anchor Lamis Hadidi, former minister of international cooperation Dr. Fayza Kamel, and journalists Mostafa and Mahmoud Bakri.
