The Cairo International Airport Museum, Terminal no.3, received a set of artifacts coming from the stores of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and the Suez National Museum preparing for its forthcoming opening.

Mostafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that the transfer process was carried out according to internationally recognized scientific methods.

He added that a case report was prepared for each piece in addition to packaging each mummy separately in boxes prepared and equipped for this purpose and lined with reinforced foam consistent with the nature of the sensitive material, it was supported with belts to avoid any sudden movements during the transfer process.

On his part, Prof. Moamen Osman, head of the museums sector, said that the 12 pieces were selected by the Supreme Committee for the scenarios of museums to enrich the museum's presentation, and included three mummies decorated with gilded cartoons and colorful drawings that were in the stores of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.

“Another group of canopic vessels and a statue of the winged Isis made of bronze, and sculptures from the Greek and Roman eras from the Suez National Museum were included too,” Osman noted.

He pointed out that the Cairo International Airport Museum in Terminal 3 has been moved to another larger place to suit an interesting museum show, so that it becomes an attractive element inside the Cairo International Airport for visitors and expatriates.

“Work is also underway to set up another museum in terminal 2 at the airport, with an area of 150m,” Osman revealed.
