A few hours ago, Moroccan music icon Mahmoud El Idrissi passed away due to COVID-19 at the age of 72.
Artist and composer Mohamed Ziyat confirmed the sad news to the Moroccan media.
He expressed, "The deceased had been hospitalized three days ago in critical condition in a private clinic in Casablanca."
Idrissi is considered one of the most influential Morrocan artists; he enriched the Arabic music library with a huge number of compositions.
His most famous songs include "Eishi Ya Beladi" (Long Live My Home), "Saa'a Sa'eda" (Happy Time), and "Osbor Ya Albi" (My Heart, Hold on).
