Moroccan Film "Khamiss 1984" to Be Screened in Cairo

The Moroccan "Khamiss 1984" will be screened in Cairo starting Wednesday. Directed by Mohamed Bouzaggou, the film revolves around Khamis who is ready to share a nice moment with his wife.

Suddenly, they are interrupted by gunshots that ring out in the street, followed by the appearance of an unexpected guest at their doorstep.

The date, mentioned in the title of the film, refers to the day when a number of riots occurred in Morocco due to the speed-rocket prices increase.

According to the film's website, its main highlights are "The events of January 19, 1984 that unfolded in Nador are part of Morocco’s memory.

And, the film wants to help get over the mistakes of the past by reconciling with the victims and bringing them to justice under the politics that the country uses to protect human rights and the sovereignty of the law."

It participated at Festival International de Cinéma et Mémoire Commune de Nador, and Tangier National Film Festival.

Starring Mimoun Zanoun, Samira El Maslouhi, Chaimae Allaoui, and Rafik Barrajjal, the film got various positive reviews due to its humanitarian perspective.
