More Than 18,000 Students Register in Huawei ICT Competition

More than 18 thousand students across Egypt registered for Huawei ICT competition for 2019/2020 in 70 days.

Huawei’s university roadshow visited more than 40 universities with average attendees from 150 to 250 in each conference.

Huawei, the leading global ICT solution provider, launches its ICT competition for 2019/2020 and more than 18 thousand students across Egypt registered in 70 days. Huawei promoted its ICT competition through a university roadshow that visited more than 40 universities with average attendees from 150 to 250 in each conference.

Huawei’s ICT competition is held under the patronage of the ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research aiming to support Egypt’s sustainable development vision for 2030. The competition is part of Huawei’s ICT talent bank that was launched in October 2019 with the attendance of Minister of MCIT, Minister of Manpower, the Minister of Higher Education, and Chinese ambassador.

Huawei’s ICT talent bank objectives is to accelerate digital transformation and maximize digital pidends through investing in the nation’s youth. Huawei ICT talent has three main pillars as a strategy which are: Reach Talent, Train Talent, and Recruit Talent.

“I am proud of the amount of students that registered join Huawei ICT competition. Those numbers reflect the hunger for knowledge the Egyptian youth have. Let me stress that nothing is more rewarding than investing in youth," highlighted Mr. Vincent Sun, Huawei Egypt CEO. "Human resources are considered the main wealth of a nation. Nowadays, International Entities measure the competitiveness of markets according to various pillars including higher education and training, labor market efficiency and technological readiness.

"A nation that is investing in its youth, is indeed investing in its future. Such an investment enables society to create and innovate new technologies. New technologies that would empower this nation to achieve its dreams to be a regional ICT hub.”

Part of Huawei’s university roadshow, Huawei visited Aswan university to enroll the university in ICT Talent Bank and install Huawei ICT Academy. Currently 140 students registered from Aswan University.

Dr. Loai Nasrat, Dean of Engineering of Aswan University stated: “We are holding today an informative session in Aswan University to educate the students on Huawei’s unique program that will empower them through equipping them with the latest technologies that is highly demanded by the labour market,”

Huawei ICT competition purpose is to fill the gap between the supply of talented engineers and the demand of the fast pace ICT job requirements and to empower Egypt’s next generation of innovators.

The competition originated from Huawei’s commitment to support Egypt’s undergraduates in Communication and IT majors by transferring strategic knowledge and expertise to strengthen their skills up to the global technological requirements.
