"Moon Knight", "Loki", "Hawkeye" Pick Up Multiple Emmy Noms

Marvel Studios came through with 19 nominations in its second year at the Primetime Emmy Awards, with "Moon Knight", "Loki", its first animated series "What If…?", and "Hawkeye" all picking up multiple nods.

“Moon Knight” picked up eight nominations. Those were for best sound editing for a limited or anthology series, movie or special; best fantasy/sci-fi costumes; and best music composition for a limited or anthology series, movie or special (original dramatic score).

The series also earned nominations for best character voice-over performance (F. Murrray Abraham as Khonshu); best sound editing for a limited or anthology series, movie or special; best sound mixing for a limited or anthology series or movie; best stunt coordination for a drama series, limited or anthology series or movie; and best stunt performance.

Oscar Isaac starred along with May El Calamawy and Ethan Hawke.

"Moon Knight" was helmed by Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead.

Egyptian composter Hesham Nazih, the writer of the series soundtrack, had also earned a nom.

“Loki” scored six nominations in total — best production design for a narrative period or fantasy program, best cinematography for a single-camera series, best fantasy/sci-fi costumes, best music composition for a series (original dramatic score), best original main title theme music, and bes sound editing for a comedy or drama series.

It is directed by Kate Herron and written and created by Michael Waldron. Tom Hiddleston led the series as the trickster god, with a cast that included Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

“Hawkeye” picked up two nominations. Those were for best stunt coordination for a comedy series or variety program and another for best stunt performance.

The series, directed by Rhys Thomas, featured Jeremy Renner reprising the title role from the MCU movies while he was joined by Hailee Steinfeld in the role of Kate Bishop.

On the animated side, “What If…” got three nominations for its debut season. It was nominated for best animated program as well as twice in the best character voice-over performance category.

Jeffrey Wright got one of those while the late Chadwick Boseman received a posthumous nomination in the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance slot for his turn as Star-Lord T’Challa.

The Black Panther actor, who died in August 2020 at 43, was lauded with a posthumous Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category for George C. Wolfe’s "Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom" in 2021.
