Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Salbi: Who Is ISIS New Leader?

The identity of the new ISIS leader has been revealed, months after former boss Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in a raid ordered by US President Donald Trump, according to daily British newspaper “The Guardian”.

Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Mawli al-Salbi, is one of the terrorist group’s founding leaders.

"SEE" sums up important facts about ISIS’s new leader:

-He was born into an Iraqi Turkmen family in the town of Tal Afar.

-Al-Salbi is considered the first non-Arab leader of the terrorist organization.

-He has two nicknames; “The Professor” and “The Destroyer”.

- He served as an officer in late Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's army.

- He outlines the policy within ISIS and has overseen various operations around the world.

- He holds a degree in sharia law from the University of Mosul.

- He grew close to Baghdadi, when they were both jailed in Basra by US forces for their links to al-Qaeda in 2003.

-The new ISIS leader led attacks in Iraq against the Yazidi minority in 2014, when hundreds of people were killed by him.

-In 2019, the US had placed a $5m bounty on al-Salbi’s head.

-His exact location is unknown.

-His brother, Adel Salbi, is a politician in the Turkish political party Turkmen Iraqi Front.

-Al-Salbi has at least one son.

It is worth mentioning that, Al Baghdadi was killed in a US raid in northwestern Syria Saturday night, after igniting his suicide belt, killing himself, his two wives and 3 children.

Moreover, at least 2 ISIS militants were captured and 11 children were taken into custody by U.S. troops.

This military operation represents a blow against the terrorist organization.
