As part of the annual celebrations of the Solar Alignment Phenomenon of Ramses II, Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism is organizing a massive festival to celebrate this special occasion in a number of cultural and archeological sites across Aswan province this week.

In the same connection, a number of high-ranked delegations and renowned guests, as well as 50 ambassadors from 30 countries, took part in this year’s celebration, which is held under the auspices of the National Bank of Egypt.

Meanwhile, Minister of tourism Dr. Khaled Alanay participated earlier Thursday as a lecturer in one of these events that took place in Upper Egypt as part of the celebrations to mark the Solar alignment phenomenon at Abu Simbel temple on Oct. 22.

Also, during this event, he gave a fruitful lecture about the unprecedented engineering achievement of completion of the historical safeguarding campaign in a partnership with UNESCO to save and relocate 20 Temples during the construction of the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s.

This year’s symbolic celebrations coincided with national events to usher in the 100th anniversary of the historical discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt as well as the 200th anniversary of deciphering ancient Egyptian language, according to Alanay.

In the same spirit, the Minister highlighted the recent achievements undertaken by the country in a bid to promote tourism, noting the latest outcomes of the Egyptian strategies on tourism safety approaches relevant to cooperation between WHO's conventions and protocol. Meanwhile, the guests welcomed information on the Tourism activities of the Ministry during this event.

Later, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities went with the foreign ambassadors and their accompanying delegation for a visit to Abu Simbel temple in Aswan.

The governor of Aswan Ashraf Atya, was present at the historical temple which is cited also as the most renowned Temple in Egyp to welcome the Egyptian Minister and the international high-ranked delegation upon arrival.

Also in this regard, the Egyptian officials took the delegation on an inside Tempel tour to help them figure it all out.

It’s worth mentioning that the annual phenom

enon of the Temple of Ramses II in Abu Simbel occurs twice every year on February 22 and October 22, as the sun's rays penetrate the front corridor of the entrance to the Temple of Ramses, which is located near to a small temple of his beloved wife Nefertari.
