Immigration Min. Recalls Memories with Dr Boutros-Ghali

In presence of a group of men of thought، politics and economics in Africa and the world، the "Kemet Boutros-Ghali Peace and Knowledge" Foundation” has organized an international seminar on "Africa، the food basket for the world".

Nabila Makram Abdel-Shaheed، Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians’ Affairs Abroad، took part at that seminar، named after Dr. Boutros Ghali Egyptian، Former Chief of the United Nations (UN).

Makram recalled her memories with Dr Ghali. She said that Dr. Ghali was a great and seasoned professor.

She met him for the first time when she traveled on a mission to the United States (USA). He was then Secretary General of the United Nations(UN).

He was keen on training groups of Egyptian diplomats in the main headquarters of the UN in the USA.

She further said that he inspired her when she took first steps on the path of diplomacy. She added that Dr. Boutros-Ghali was a modest figure and an adroit expert in all fields of the international relations.

She revealed that she visited him at his home for two hours in 2016 after a year following taking of the ministerial portfolio. He recommended her to boost cooperation with Africa.

 Makram thanked widow of Dr. Boutros-Ghali for her support especially spreading the ideas of her late husband.

He left an eternal intellectual treasure for the future generations to make their country a leading and international actor in various parts of the world.

She decided to ink a protocol of cooperation with the Organization of the Kemmet Boutros-Ghali peace and knowledge "in various areas.

Makram affirmed that she was proud of the Egyptian models that drew her attention to the continent، such as Dr. Sir Magdy Yacoub and Dr. Kamal Ibrahim، Professor of surgeries.

Worthy noting is that Dr. Ibrahim trained and educated Ethiopian doctors in his field.

He established a center in Ethiopia to treat disorders of the vertebral column.

The minister pointed out that she strove hard to promote these positive models in her foreign visits to motivate more Egyptians to follow this path and to emphasize the importance of the African file.

She stressed that members of the Egyptian communities in the African countries are supportive forces to their motherland.

Communication with the Egyptians in Africa is similar in importance to Egypt's relationship with the Gulf states or Europe.

The minister explained that her ministry is currently preparing to organize a conference called "Egypt on the beginning of the road" under patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The envisioned conference aims to invite the leaders of thought and politics around the world who graduated from Egyptian universities to appear in an international celebration.

Participation of those prominent people will prove the scientific and cultural leading role of Egypt.
