Culture Min. Establishes Branch of Arts Academy in El-Shorouk City

Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, issued a decision to establish a branch of the Arts Academy in the city of El Shorouk, east of Cairo. This came after the approval of the City Authority and the New Urban Communities Authority to allocate plot No. (1) in the Eighth Neighborhood Services Center for family housing with a total area of 7915 square meters. Buildings encompass an area 1400 square meters and include 33 classrooms.

Abdel Dayem said that the decision to establish the Academy branch in El-Shorouk city in Cairo governorate comes within the framework of the state’s strategy and the Ministry of Culture to achieve sustainable development and Egypt's 2030 vision of expanding specialized educational cultural facilities in various governorates.

Abdel Dayem added that the Academy’s branch in El-Shorouk city is a new tributary that enriches the creative work and creates conscious personalities.

It participates in the development of society and human development through the preparation of specialized technical cadres that contribute to preserving the prosperity of Egyptian arts and culture.

On his part, Dr. Ashraf Zaki, President of the Arts Academy, said that the new Academy branch in El-Shorouk City provides an opportunity for young people to hone their talents through specialized study.

Zaki stressed that work in the branch is carried out in two stages, the first of which begins with the directing department at the Higher Institute of Cinema and the Acting and Directing Department of the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts, the Higher Institute for Ballet and the Higher Institute for Music ( Cairo Conservatoire).

The second phase includes the completion of the rest of the academic institutes' specializations.

Zaki indicated that the announcement of the acceptance of new batches of students in the specialties of the first phase will take place within a few days of the official opening.

He added that new branches will be opened later at Mansoura University in Dakahlia Governorate and Suez Canal in Ismailia Governorate.
