Military Museum Witness of Egypt's Army Victories

Military Museum is located in 'Harem Palace' at Salah El-Din Citadel. It was opened in November 1949. It contains wealth of information about Egyptian army victories and soldiers' heroism from historical times.

The 1st passageway has eight historical pieces as well as some tools that were used by the soldiers, a number of weapons, and some of the Israeli tanks that were used during October war 1973.

Also, it hosts statues of kings and rulers Egypt during the Pharaonic era. They include Salah El Din, El Zaher Bibars, Mohamed Ali and Khepe Ismail. The Glory Hall displays events panorama in Egypt beginning from the Pharaonic era to October War.

The military uniforms hall displays the development of soldiers and officers' clothes throughout ages till our modern days.

There is another section which displays Egyptian revolution against the French occupation and how the French army hit El Azhar Mosque, as well as centre for revolution that forced the people to stop their rebellion.

Noteworthy, the citadel known for being home to several mosques and museums in Cairo, as well as is a medieval, Islamic fortification strategically built on top of Cairo’s Mokattam Hill in the 12th Century by ruler Salah El Din.

The compound was once a mixture of royal and residential buildings and was designed in a manner that allowed a single army to protect the whole area from outside attacks. Since the establishment of the site, it has been added to and modified by several successors.
