On Thursday, Mexico welcomed new US President, Joe Biden's executive order to halt the construction of a wall at the border between the two countries, praising his intention to reform immigration laws in the US.

In a tweet, Mexican Foreign Minister (FM) Marcelo Ebrard said, "Mexico welcomes the end of border wall construction."

He also praised the immigration initiative in favor of DACA and a path to dual citizenship.

Yesterday, Biden took the oath of office. He was sworn in by Chief Supreme Court Justice John Roberts.

Moreover, Kamala Harris was sworn in as the nation’s first female vice president.

The former U.S. senator from California is also the first Black person and the first person of South Asian descent elected to assume the vice presidency and becomes the highest-ranking woman ever to serve in government.

On his first day as a president, Biden signed a package of decisions on his first day as a president, that reverse his predecessor’s orders.

Among Biden’s most notable decisions are the end of Trump’s much-assailed ban on visitors from several majority-Muslim countries and halting the construction of the wall on the US-Mexico border to stop illegal immigration.
