Eight people were shot dead in an armed attack on a nightclub in the city of Jerez, in north-central Mexico, in an area plagued by drug cartel violence, local authorities announced Monday.
Men armed with weapons opened fire in the nightclub located in the state of Zacatecas, about 670 km north of Mexico City, according to the same sources.
6 people died on the scene, while two others injured died while receiving first aid.
Among the victims were musicians, clubgoers and workers, according to local media, and 5 people who were injured in the attack are still receiving treatment in hospital.
