It is time to get to know about the Egyptian collector who has more than 100 vintage cars, which many had appeared in several Egyptian films and TV series.

He also obtained a car that was once ridden by former Egyptian president Anwar El Sadat, whose presidential car was a black 1975 Chevrolet Impala.

Who is the collector?

Sayed Sima, a nickname derived from the Egyptian slang for cinema, is a vintage car collector, who was about 25 years old when he began his collection.

He was attracted by their beauty and rarity. They were also relatively cheap.

More than half a century later, Sima owns hundreds of vintage cars, some of which he keeps in Egypt’s Media Production City, where directors often rent the antiques for TV series and films.

The collecter's oldest car is an Auburn, which he owned since the 1980s.

“This is of course a very rare car, a car that is entirely a piece of antique. Its original tank is still inside. It’s a beautiful car. Its structure is all wood,” he told Reuters while sitting inside the classic car as he showcased its wooden frame and steel coating.

Sima remains fascinated by the way older cars operate, a passion shared by his 38-year-old son, Ayman, who grew up seeing his father’s cars in films.

“I also liked how I saw these cars on film screens. I would see a film and think, oh it is our car,” he stated.
